Madhuvanthy Athreya has been learning music from the age of 4. She started her musical journey through Sri Sathya Sai Bhajans and it still continues. Her first Carnatic Guru was Sri. SP Ramh, disciple of Sri. Lalgudi Jayaraman. She has learnt under his tutelage for 8 years. Currently, she is learning under the guidance of Smt. Savita Sreeram, for Abhangs and Namasankeerthan and under Dr. M. Lalitha, for Carnatic Music. She has been accompanying her Guru Smt. Savita Sreeram for her concerts. She has been performing solo concerts at various stages, as a vocalist. She has performed Abhang, Namsankeerthan concerts for a few years. A few concerts have been based on the Sangeetha Kathakalakshepam form and Sampradaya Bhajans. She has also performed Devotional Tamil Songs for specific concerts. As a proud Grand Daughter of Sri. Seeni Viswanathan, who was the Padma Shri Awardee in 2025, for his Research about Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathiar, she has performed concerts that contain exclusively the compositions of Mahakavi Bharathi.
